Christina Scherr, MEd, ATC
Head Athletic Trainer Christina Scherr, MEd, ATC, is a certified athletic trainer, and the head athletic trainer for all sports at Torrey Pines High School. Christina goes above and beyond the call by attending all football practices and scrimmages and summer league passing games, including the team’s annual trip to Visalia. She arrives early to tape players and stays late to tend to the injured. Christina graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a BS degree and obtained her Master’s Degree while working at Washington State University. She joined the Falcons in 2006 after working as an assistant athletic trainer at San Diego State University, and the University of San Diego. Parents and coaches take great comfort in seeing her on the sideline during games caring for the boys. |

Allan Tomlinson
Freshman Linebacker Coach Al teaches math and a popular probability & statistics class on the Torrey Pines campus. Al spent 13 seasons coaching the Falcon “Whip” linebackers, the linebacker, defensive backs and last year coached the offensive & defensive line. Prior to coming to Torrey Pines in 1998, Al coached at Middle Tennessee State, was the defensive coordinator for four years at Santana High School, and for three years at Southwestern Junior College. He received his Masters in Math Education from Vanderbilt University (1991), and his BS in Education from UNLV, where he played cornerback for four seasons (1977-1981). Al has been married to Jeanne since 1989. The couple is busy with fraternal twins, Logan and Alayna who both went to Torrey Pines before starting college this fall, and the family enjoys living in the Carmel Valley community. |
Riley Myrick
Varsity Assistant Running Backs Coach A Falcon alumni himself, coach Myrick graduated from Torrey Pines in 2007. While at TP, Riley played football and lacrosse, winning CIF Championships with both teams. After high school he went on to play both sports at Whittier College and was awarded as an NSCA All-American while earning a degree in kinesiology. Since graduation, Riley has been working as a strength coach, yoga instructor, and has been the Head JV Lacrosse Coach for the last 4 seasons. Debuting his first year with football, coach Myrick has been working with the summer strength and conditioning program and will be coaching the running backs. Coach Myrick takes tremendous pride in the TP football program and is committed to being a positive role model, coach and mentor to the players. |
Scott Mainquist
Varsity Defensive Ends Coach Graduating from Torrey Pines in 2011, Scott was an All-League Tight End while also lettering in basketball and track and field. Scott went to the University of Chicago where he was a three year starter on the defensive line. As a senior, Scott went on to serve as team captain, receive All-American honors and win the UAA League Defensive Player of the Year at defensive tackle. Scott graduated with a degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and is hoping to attend law school in the fall of 2016. |

Sam Hoekstra
Varsity Wide Receivers Coach This is Sam’s first season coaching at Torrey Pines. Graduating from Santa Fe Christian High School in 2010, Sam was an All-League running back and also lettered in Track and Field. Sam attended the University of San Diego where he was a four year starter as a receiver and returner. As a junior and senior Sam received All League and All American honors as a returner. Sam graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication studies and a minor in Business Administration. |
