Duane Bickett
Varsity Linebackers Coach Duane returns to Torrey Pines for his sixth year coaching Linebackers. At Glendale High School, Coach Bickett was an All-CIF Football player and CIF Player of The Year in basketball. He then played at USC where he was PAC 10 Player of The Year in 1984, a 1ST Team All- American and an Academic All American. He was the 5th player selected in the 1985 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts where he played for nine of his twelve NFL seasons. He finished his career with the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers. During his time in the NFL he was the 1985 Defensive Rookie Of The Year, made The Pro Bowl in 1987, and was All-AFC in 1987 and 1988. |

Jim Ciancimino
Offensive Line Coach / Equipment Manager Coach Ciancimino played guard for and received a B.A. from Franklin Marshall College. He did his graduate work at Pepperdine University in Business Administration. Upon completion of his education he spent seven years as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corp. This is his 23nd season coaching football at Torrey Pines. He and his son, Scott own the Potato Shack in Encinitas. Jim lives in Carlsbad California with his wife, Robin. |

Robby Collins
Quarterbacks Coach / Varsity Offensive Coordinator This is Coach Collins’ ninth season coaching with the Falcons and his fourth as the Offensive Coordinator. Robby was a captain and Senior Cabinet member of the 2006 Torrey Pines team playing for Ed Burke. He earned All-CIF, All-North County and All-Palomar League honors that season as a defensive back. Robby graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2011, with a major in Communication and a minor in Business Administration. Robby is an English teacher on campus teaching sophomores and seniors. |

Josh Fely
Strength & Conditioning Coach, Varsity Cornerbacks Coach, JV Defensive Coordinator Coach Fely begins his fifth season at TPHS. Fely played football at Oceanside High School, where he won two CIF championships and Oceanside’s first state title while earning 1st Team honors on defense. After high school, Fely played linebacker for two years at San Diego Mesa College before earning a scholarship to University of Texas, El Paso. At UTEP, Fely was on the Conference USA Honor Roll for two years, the Conference USA 2nd Team defense in his senior year, and he earned his degree in kinesiology. Fely resides in Oceanside with his wife Amara, and daughters Mia and Ayva. |

Filipe Figueira
Varsity Running Backs Coach / Special Teams Coordinator In 1988, Filipe Figueira graduated from J.F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx where he served as the team Captain his senior year. He was the recipient of an Academic/Athletic Scholarship to Colgate University. As a senior, he started at Strong Safety and led his team in tackles and interceptions. For his efforts, Filipe was the honoree of The Hal W. Lamar Award, given to the Most Valuable Defensive Player in 1991. Also, he was selected to the All-Patriot League Team and was Patriot League's Defensive Player of the Week against Lehigh University. |

Dax Harrison
Varsity Defensive Coordinator Coach Harrison begins his fifth season at Torrey Pines as Defensive Coordinator, after spending 2 years as the Defensive Coordinator for Coach Gladnick at Clairemont High School. He was also the Defensive Quality Control coach with SDSU under Rocky Long. Coach Harrison started his coaching career at Torrey Pines. During that time he coached both Varsity Football and Lacrosse for 5 seasons. As a player, he was member of the 1997 undefeated CIF Championship team under Ed Burke. During his senior season he was a member of the senior cabinet and named Falcon of the Year. He currently holds the individual single season tackling record. Following high school, he attended Whittier College where he earned a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Poet lacrosse team. He currently works as the Operations Manager at R&G Precision Machinery in Oceanside. He resides in San Marcos with his wife, Courtney and sons Wilder and Knox. |

Scott Hughley
Varsity Defensive Line Coach Coach Hughley begins his fifth season with the Torrey Pines staff after spending 9 years coaching high school football, basketball and baseball in his home state of Oregon. A 2004 graduate of Portland's Wilson High, Scott earned All-PIL honors for the 2 time league champions and served as captain of the track team before attending Western Oregon University. |

Josh Mihalinec
Varsity Offensive Line Coach Josh joined the Falcon staff in 1992 after graduating from San Diego State University. During his career at Torrey Pines, Coach Mihalinec has filled numerous coaching and teaching roles. Josh has coached many positions and coordinated the offense during his time at Torrey Pines. He works tirelessly to improve the players and the program on a daily basis. Josh teaches in the Math Department. He and wife Deanna enjoy spending time with their two children, Cole and Sara. |

Victor Hourani
Varsity Wide Receivers /JV Wide Receivers Coach Born and raised in San Diego, Coach Hourani played baseball at Bonita Vista High School in Chula Vista. After high school, Hourani played 2 years of football in Tijuana, Mexico. His coaching career began at Bonita Vista High School in 2007, where he coached wide receivers on the JV team. The following year, he got promoted to the Varsity staff, coaching wide receivers and quarterbacks. The same year, he coached the Varsity baseball team. In 2014, Hourani coached the Bonita Vista Barons to their first Baseball title in school history. After his 6 years at Bonita, he coached at Hoover High School under Jerry Ralph, working with the wide receivers. The next year Victor accepted a job in the Avocado west at El Camino, coaching Wide receivers and special teams, that year the Wildcats finished the season as Division 1 runner ups. Currently, Coach Hourani is working on his special education credential and works as a Behavior Intervention Specialist in the Grossmont Union High School District. Victor currently resides in Mission Valley, San Diego. |

Miles Ahles
Varsity Linebackers / JV Linebackers Coach Miles, a TPHS alumnus, begins his third year on the Falcons staff. He served as a captain of the 2012 Falcon’s team and earned all-conference honors his senior year. After graduating from Torrey Pines, he continued his football career at Chapman University, becoming a three year starter at linebacker and winning a SCIAC Conference Championship with the team. Coach Ahles also earned Defensive Player of the Year and captain honors his senior year. He graduated from Chapman with a B.S. in Biochemistry and currently works at Illumina in San Diego. |

Jake Ashby
Varsity & JV Offensive Line Coach Coach Ashby returns to his alma mater for his second year with the Falcon coaching staff. He brings a unique perspective to the coaching staff having grown up around Falcon football. He started coming to practice as a baby Falcon supporting his dad, Scott Ashby, and the Falcon Family. He progressed up through the ranks from ball boy to endzone game filmer eventually joining the Falcon Football team. On varsity he was a two year starter at center and a member of the senior cabinet. He was an all conference offensive linemen his senior year. After graduating TPHS in 2013, Coach Ashby played football at the University of Pugent Sound in Tacoma, WA where he was a two year starter. When injuries forced him from the football field, he became a two year graduate assistant at Pugent Sound. |

John Principi
Varsity Running Backs / JV Offensive Coordinator John is a TPHS alumnus. He was a captain of the 1996 Falcon Football Team under Coach Ed Burke and was Avocado League Player of the year at running back and a second team All-State Linebacker. John attended UC Berkley graduating in 2001. John coached the Varsity Lacrosse team from 2003-2009. He won two CIF championships as an assistant coach and one CIF Championship as the head coach in 2007. He was the CIF Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2007. John and his wife Morgan live in Del Mar with their 4 children, Dominic, Grace, Vincent, and Samuel. |

Tim Staycer
JV Head Coach Born in "The Great State of Ohio", Tim Staycer played high school football at Walsh Jesuit High School and the University of Akron as a fullback. After graduation Tim taught and coached for 3 years at Sebring HS before moving to San Diego in 1986. Tim taught and coached at Mira Mesa High School until 1995 when he joined Coach Burke and his staff at TPHS as a Varsity Linebacker and Running Back coach. He has served as a JV Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator as well as a Freshman Head Coach. Tim resides in Encinitas with wife Nance and their two sons Matthew and Jacob. |

Frank Montes
Freshman Head Coach Frank begins his second season as the Falcon’s Freshmen Head Coach. Frank has been a Financial Advisor to business owners/professionals and families for twenty-five years. He started his career with The Guardian Life of New York in 1988. After five years with The Guardian, he decided to establish his own practice in order to have the flexibility and independence to provide the best possible solutions to each client. In 1993 he started Montes Financial, Inc.. To better serve the needs of clients, he additionally became a Certified College Planners Specialist through the National Institute Of Certified College Planners. He now owns College Planning Solutions as well to serve the needs of families planning for college. He has coached youth sports in Carmel Valley for sixteen years, serving as a head coach for the last nine seasons. |

Scott Ashby
Freshman Offensive Coordinator Coach Ashby will be in his fourth year coaching freshmen football, after a successful seven-year stint as the head Varsity Coach of the Falcons. This will be Scott’s 26th season with Torrey Pines Football. Scott attended San Marcos High School, where he was an all-league running back for the CIF Champion Knights. He was a defensive back at Palomar Junior College, and Western Oregon State, before obtaining his teaching credential. Scott teaches PE at Torrey Pines. Coach Ashby and his wife Carrie enjoy camping and boating, and spending time with their two sons, Jake a TPFB alum who is playing Center for University of Puget Sound and Kyle who will be a freshmen linebacker at the College of Idaho. |

Matt Livingston
Freshman Offensive Line Coach This is Matt’s ninth season with the Freshmen team. Matt is the Offensive Line Coach, and is also the Freshmen baseball coach. Matt is a Torrey Pines alum who played four seasons for the Falcons. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Brigham Young University (1996) before joining the Torrey Pines staff, where he has taught in the Science Department for 15 years. Matt was named Teacher of the Year in 2009. Matt is married with five children. |

Roger Simsiman
Receivers & Defensive Backs Coach
This is Roger’s second season coaching on the Freshmen staff where he coaches Receivers and Defensive Backs. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Roger has coached football and baseball for over a decade in San Diego. A commercial real estate professional, Roger is also involved in the University of San Diego – Burnham Moores Center for Real Estate where he has served as an adjunct professor. He and his wife, Amanda, have three sons – Rob, Ben and Luke – who have played and currently play Torrey Pines Falcon Football.

David "Richi" Klapmeier, MS, ATC
david.klapmeier@sduhsd.net Head Athletic Trainer Richi Klapmeier, MS, ATC is a born and raised San Diegan beginning his third year as the head athletic trainer at TPHS. He graduated from St. Augustine HS ('10) where he played soccer and baseball. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of California, Long Beach, he received his Masters of Kinesiology degree from Point Loma Nazarene University. He is a Padres fan and in his free time, he enjoys surfing or anything outdoors. |
