TORREY PINES
Coach: Ron Gladnick. Overall record — 35-34 (6 years). Record at school — 25-21 (4 years).
Last year: 7-5.
Division: I.
Section titles: 4 (1992, ’97, 2003, ’04).
Players to watch: QB Jason Heine, who has an offer from the University of Chicago, and FB Mac Bingham accounted for nearly 3,000 yards and 29 TDs last year. Bingham, a USC baseball commit as an outfielder, had 1,272 yards rushing and receiving. Heine had 1,617 yards passing and rushing. Huge LT Brian Driscoll has committed to Cal.
At a glance: On offense, the Falcons are athletic in the backfield and big up front. Driscoll, Alex Brown and Mohab Wahdan, a first-year player, anchor the line. On defense, the Falcons return seven starters, led by Payson Campisano, who has multiple scholarship offers, Leo Speidel and Sebastian Carpenter. Luke Mikolajewski is the team’s only two-way starter, lining up at WR on offense and CB on defense. Sophomores Griffen Wilson on offense and Dewey Egan on defense figure to see significant time. LB Marco Notarainni, another sophomore, could make an impact. The Falcons are a senior-dominated team that is big, strong, experienced and had a great summer.
